Creator Me Academy is a 12-week training session designed for small business owners and entrepreneurs who are looking to create a standout brand on social media. This session will cover four key marketing topics essential in helping businesses succeed online: social media management, content marketing, public relations, and social media brand identity. This program will have a hybrid work model, with half the program being offered in-person and the other half being offered virtually via Zoom.

Keep in mind there are only 12 seats available in this program. Applications will be considered in the order they are received.

Who is the training session for?

The session is designed for small business owners and entrepreneurs who are interested in growing and establishing their online business presence. The business owners and entrepreneurs who will benefit the most from this program are individuals who currently have little to no social media presence for their business, do not have a dedicated marketing team, and do not have extensive knowledge on social media marketing and content creation.


To be eligible for the session, participants must meet the following criteria:

  • Identify as Southeast Asian or Southeast Asian descent
  • Resident of Minnesota
  • Current member of The Minnesota Hmong Chamber of Commerce (MHCC), or become a member during enrollment
  • Have a social media account (either Facebook or Instagram) dedicated for business use
  • Have less than 10,000 followers on Facebook and/or Instagram


All session participants will be expected to complete the following during or after the session is completed.

  • Attend at least one MHCC event
  • Participate in 1:1 Consultations with MHCC and trainer

PLEASE NOTE: DEED requires certain participant information, such as proof of residency, Social Security Number, Individual Goal Plan, and attendance records, for grant purposes. Rest assured that your data will be handled with the utmost confidentiality and used solely for the grant application process.

In addition to MHCC and DEED’s requirements, this session requires all participants to have access to a computer/laptop, have access to an internet connection, have access to a smartphone with a minimum of 64 gigabytes of available storage, and have a social media dedicated for business purposes with less than 10,000 followers.

This beginner-friendly, “hands on” training session requires full participation from the participants. Each participant in this session must be available to attend the in-person instructional classes and workshops every Tuesday evening, attend and participate in all scheduled filming/photography sessions, and attend all 1:1 virtual consultations.
