Tsabmim Xyooj is one of the most prolific Hmong musicians within the last 20 years and one of the most recognizable Hmong international artists in the modern era. In 1987, she began her career in the music industry as a backup dancer for a Hmong band called Phoojywg Roobsiab in Thailand with the renowned artist Povmeem Hawj. In addition to her role as a backup dancer, she typically sang couple of songs to give the band a break when needed. When the band’s top female singer was not able to record the band’s first album, Povmeem approached Tsabmim and asked her if she wanted to record the album with the band. She immediately jumped at the opportunity. After the first album, “Tsis Xav Ua Niam Yau”, she became an instant sensation and a rising star in Thailand. After such hits as “Valentine Kua Muag Poob” and “Luag Ntxhi Tos Leej Twg”, Tsabmim became an international star in the Hmong music world.
In 1996, she came to the United States and won numerous additional fans with her unique grassroots voice and beautifully artistic performances on stage. In 1999, she married and subsequently had a beautiful daughter. She was at the peak of her singing career but chose to leave it behind to pursue a family life.
Tsabmim later recorded five successful Christian albums and has well over 35 albums to her career as an artist and producer. After a 15 years hiatus, she is now back in the studio and on stage to complete her mission of spreading beautiful music and learning how to be a successful entrepreneur.
